CHC Inc. Current Unit:
What a great Autumn!
The Whitewater CHC Inc. club had an awards ceremony the beginning of September. The girls each rode Preacher in a running walk for their parents. He is the Tennessee Walking horse they rode this summer. Then we handed out the charms and awards they earned after giving the parents an overview of the WALKING Unit.
This Autumn we have been working on the PRAISE & THANKS Unit. We are learning about praising the LORD in all circumstances. We have studied the seven ways of praise, why we should praise the LORD and are now learning about having the attitude of praise and thankfulness each day. Each member does a horse training project in which she practices praising the horse when he does it correctly. Then she helps another member with a riding or horse trainiing project, again praising and encouraging her when she does things right. The weather on our Tuesdays has been extra nice, so we have been working on our horse projects before the weather turns too cold. The girls are memorizing; Phil. 4:8 and 1 Thess. 5:16-18 "Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." NIV We will be finishing up this Unit in Dec. and we will do the CHOICES Unit this winter.
The club in Ohio is working on the CHOICES Unit and our California club has finished the COMMUNICATIONS & CUES Unit and is now working on the Bits & BRIDLES Unit.
Please pray for all the CHC Inc. clubs, thier leaders and members. Pray for protection and God's annointing for each leader and member.
Summer full of FUN!
This summer we are doing the WALKING Unit! In June we had a nice day for our Awards ceremony. The girls demonstrated some of things they learned about horse conformation. Then, as I gave a quick over-view of what the BITS & BRIDLES Unit and DESIGN Unit were all about, the girls recited their memory verses. Afterwards, we had a potluck picnic and a nice time visiting with the families. The WALKING Unit, which we have been working on, explores different types of gaited horses and we are learning about the walk of a regular horse, including the collected and extended walk.
We went to the Icelandic Winterhorse Park just outside of Eagle where Barb Riva graciously took time to introduce her Icelandic horses to us. She taught us about their unique history, personality and thier gaits. She had several of her girls demonstrate the special way these horses move. Our CHC girls were able to groom and get to know two of her horses. Afterwards, we went to SMILES, a therapeutic riding stable, where we volunteered to help clean tack for their up-coming Therapeutic Horse Show. Noelle W. my summer helper did a great job organizing everyone and we got alot acomplished.
We are thankful to Jeannie Z. (a boarder here at Hidden Falls Ranch), for sharing her Tennesse Walker named "Preacher" with us. She demonstrated how Preacher moves and the girls with more riding expirience were able to ride him and experience the feel of a gaited horse. Preacher did great!
The devotions for the WALKING Unit talk about the action of love; which is “doing mercy” and extending a helping hand to those around us. We learned about God’s top five people groups He desires Believers to reach out to and help in practical ways. The widow (also today’s single mom), the fatherless (orphans or kids with no dad present), the poor (unemployed or under paid) the weak (disabled, mentally challenged or abused women and children), and the oppressed (persecuted Christians, some Muslim women), the "picked on" students at school). We have studied how Jesus is our example of the “Successful Servant.” The Scripture shows us how Jesus continually showed mercy to people. He demonstrated a true servant’s heart as He washed the disciples feet. A job no one wanted to do. His ultimate act of mercy was when He demonstrated His love for us when He died on the cross to take our sins on Himself and rose again. He gave His life so we can now experience the Holy Spirit in our hearts when we repent and surrender to His love.
The girls memorized Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” And Micah 6:8 “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” New International Version. We hope to instill in the girls the idea of; on purpose, looking for ways to help others, really listening to people so you learn what they need most. To plan ways to extend a hand of mercy. We will also talk about how to “collect” ourselves, to NOT say something that could put someone in a bad light. To think before you speak, be sensitive to the feelings of others and think of how your actions and words affect others. To be a peacemaker, help everyone to get along. All this is not easy to do, but with God’s help we can make doing mercy our aim each day.
We had an awesome trip to the Kentucky Horse Park and the Creation Museum in Kentucky! We saw: 3-day eventing; which includes cross-country jumping, stadium jumping, we also saw Hunter / Jumping competions, musical free-style dressage and even a reining competition.
We also had a camp out here at the ranch so we could give the girls more time to ride and practice the different walks. We used Josiah and Jhenhi our two Moriesian horses to demonstrate the extended walks and trot and we will use Fiesta to demonstrate the collected walk.
We also fit in a field trip to see a Gaited Horse Show at West 20 so the girls could see the many different kinds of gaited horses! The girls are working hard to finish their projects and Bible reading so they can earn their charm at the up-coming awards ceremony!
